Program Vision

1st Marathon was created to teach all people the special art and proper technique of running and finishing a marathon road race. The marathon has always had a special place of reverence in the social conscience. Many view the marathon as the "ultimate" test of will,… a metaphor for life itself. Perhaps that is why so many people are in awe of those who are able to conquer it.

Though one of the most feared events in all of athletics, the marathon is actually one of the easier recreational sports to train for….provided one has enough time, knowledge, and desire. Here then is the vision of 1st Marathon…Utilizing knowledge, time and motivation we will train anyone and everyone who has the desire, to run and finish a major marathon road race.

Our programs are flexible, allowing even the busiest people to train around today’s hectic personal schedules. Targeting a major marathon road race, our programs are 20 plus weeks in duration. Training consists of once per week group runs, usually lasting 1 to 2 hours on Saturday mornings at a selected site. Prior to the group runs, we conduct a half hour informational and inspirational seminar on topics related to training. Weekly personal training schedules are distributed at our Saturday morning meetings to our participants to "be run on their own". These individual weekly runs are 3 to 4 times per week and are based on "time running" not distance. There is no need for participants to map out training distances for themselves. Our coaches are always accessible throughout the entire program to help all individuals with their training. The entire program is progressive in nature. Over 20 weeks, 1st Marathon will gradually and properly train participants to run and finish a major road race.
